The way people will shave in the future, will be decided by marketing and not by the people.

I think it will grow a bit more and then decrease back to something a bit smaller than it currently is.

I think when you look at similar niche items the road is already set. Look at Vinyl Records for instance. They have always remained popular with a certain segment. Also remember though we have a large membership the active members are but a fraction. We see the folks when the come and start straight shaving but we don't how many give up on it. Also we don't know how many of those buyers of straights on Eboy are strictly people caught up in the modern collecting craze and would never use one.

I agree the ranks of straight shavers are increasing but it will always remain a niche.

Just think. If this really takes off we could see TV ads with big sports stars advertising them, glossy packaging, mass production lower quality, higher prices and of course, a shortened life span so we have to replace them every six to eight months. They may even think of a way to make them digital. God help us if our way of shaving ever catches on in a big way.

My 12 year old son commandeered me into taking him and a friend to the Justin Bieber movie this weekened.

There's a short clip that shows him shaving with some disposable.

Now, if we could all concentrate on converting THAT GUY, I think we could incite a revolution that would make Egypt look like a backyard barbecue. All the girls want him. All the guys want to be like him. He has such a following (I think my wife is enamored as well), that if he adopted wearing a cabbage leaf fastened with a safety pin as underwear, there would be a run on the produce section of every market in the world.

Or maybe we could convince Dovo to hire Tom Brady as a spokeperson....

BTW, the movie is very enjoyable. We saw it in 3-D, and it was worth the extra couple of bucks. Make your kid happy.

Yes and then all the "in people" will use them and we'll see sexy movie stars sporting their Straight scars and everyone will want them. Jimmy will have his hands full tattooing scars on people cause it will be cool.

Not if I have anything to say about it. I mean... who has been brought here by marketing? Yet we share an interest for a unique way of vanquishing our facial hair and, by most indications, a peculiar way of doing things in general.

Marketing tries to influence you, disposables keep on getting cooler and stuff, and yet they don't convince me that they are better. Except to shave cats, which are very difficult to shave with a straight.
