Just picked up this razor today at a local antique store. M.Jung NO.80 New York Made In Germany. Paid $15 for it. Did I do good? Does anyone know anything about these razors? Production dates? Company history? If they shave well?

    Thanks For Any Help.

Looks to be quite a lot of hone wear on the spine but otherwise in good shape. I can't see anything to say that after honing it wouldn't shave well. Pricing is very subjective and so, only you can answer as to that, if you're happy with the deal, it's a good one.

There were a gazillion stores in the US that sold Solingen razors under their own brand names. By and large, they were very good razors.

    As collectibles, not worth much.

    As shavers, excellent.

There hasn't been a lot of change in "high-carbon steel" in the past century. The old guys knew what they were doing.

PS -- since you're on this site, you probably understand that we're all talking about the shaving qualities _after honing_. _Don't_ try to shave with it as it came from the store.

Jung was in business from 1911 to 1923 and sold mostly razors, according to Goins'. I have two Jung razors and they take a very good edge.

A fair bit of hone wear to it but should definately make a fine shaver. Congrats!

Importantly, the hone wear is uniform so it should not be an issue at all. It should hone up and shave just fine.
