Had to laugh
Found this on Yahoo.com today and had to laugh at it. This is a list of best razors yet I do not see a straight razor or a DE on the list but they have all the overpriced multiblades on there. I start to wonder if people don't realize there are other options such as straight razors or DE out there and think that Gillette and Shick are the only people that make razors any more.

Thanked: 983In all fairness, they do seem to be marketed towards women. Although that reason doesn't explain the lack of DE's as much as it may the lack of CT's. And of course it doesn't explain the lack of the advertisers faith in women to successfully use DE's and CT's by only marketing future landfill bar one 'eco-razor'.

Thanked: 3795But the Eco-Razor is the worst one of all.
The Eco-Option:
Preserve Triple Razor
Most razors aren’t recyclable, so if “environmentally-friendly” tops your wish list, try the Preserve Triple Razor (Starting at $7, Yahoo! Shopping). With a pivoting head and a trio of blades, it gives a great shave. What’s more, the handle is made entirely of repurposed plastic. And when the razor wears out, dispose of the blades in the trash, pop the handle into the included envelope, and mail it back to Preserve. Or find a drop-off recycling location on Preserve’s website. The company will turn the handles into plastic lumber for playgrounds.
Instead of mailing each handle back, how about the novel idea of re-using the damn handle and just selling blades?

Thanked: 1185My sentiments exactly, I think most of us own at least one or two razors over 100 years old. I often wonder when I pick up one of my Old Codgers, how many shaves has this thing given in its lifetime. Of course there's totally no way of even guessing but what I do know is that any one of them (given proper maintenance) will shave me for the rest of my life, my son for the rest of his life and my grandson for the rest of his life and this entire time NOTHING goes into the garbage and nothing goes into a landfill. You just can't beat that for eco friendly.
The older I get, the better I was

Thanked: 4Also, it's telling that they consider the fancy-schmancy 'faux-ivory' handle to give the product sufficient cachet to be called 'premium' - even though it uses the same d**m cartridge!
