    Default Henckels

    Hi all,
First of all, congratulations on an amazingly informative site.

Having started using straights last May, I haven't looked back. I have started a little collection, and I think I will always be looking to add to my rotation...

One of my favorites is an old square point J.A Henckels 41. Can anyone help me age this razor please? Is it as obvious as the stamp on the tang meaning 1941? If not, what do the numbers on Henckels mean?

I would like to get some more Henckels but was confused as to what would be a wise purchase. For example, there was a 7 day set on E bay recently that were stamped 70. As I didn't know what this meant I didn't bid.

    Cheers M

Welcome to SRP. I believe the number on the tang there refers to the model number. Henkels was a prolific producer as is testified by their list of available grinds. Posting a picture may help someone to put a date to your razor and we love pictures here anyway.

Here is a couple of pics.

You can't quite make it out in the pictures, but under J.A Henckels it is stamped Zwillingswerk.

I think the "41" might mean that it's stainless steel.
