Default Dovo Shavette - Not for faces?

    Hi,

As part of my transition from safety razors to straights, I thought it appropriate to procure a Shavette in order to learn my technique, without needing to worry about the quality of my honing and stropping.

After using the Shavette for the first time this morning, I think it may fulfill a new role as a letter opener.

The problem I had with the Shavette is that it just didn't seem to slice cleanly though my stubble. It seemed to keep sticking, and pulling. I wound up giving up on my chin, loading a fresh feather into my safety razor, and finishing up with my normal safety razor routine. It feels like the plastic cartridge and metal sleeve create a lip that makes it impossible to find the optimum cutting angle. Dry shaving a bit of arm hair seems to work fine, but using this on the face just doesn't seem to work.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

    Cheers,
    knorm

    Default

I regularly use it to trim the upper hair of my mustache between my nose and the thick part of the stache, and also any chest/below the belt work and I've never had a problem with it.

Shallow angles and firmer hand. Trust me, you can get a good shave out of a shavette.
