    Default Wade and Butcher Help

I just picked up a Wade and Butcher at a local antique store and need some help with the dating.

It is 5/8, full hollow spike point with black horn scales. On the scales in gold lettering is the following "Wade and Butcher's Celebrated Razor". On the tang it says "Manufactured by Wade and Butcher" and "Sheffield" (no "England") Below that is the B in a circle mark but no arrow or anything else. There is nothing etched on the face of the blade either. It also has a smallish barber's notch.

The scales are in great shape as is the blade. For $20, I took the gamble. It is a good shaver but could use some more time on the strop.

Any ideas on the age of this razor and why it would not have the arrow on the tang?

Thanks for any help on this.

My guess would be 1875-1890 , or so .

I can't say age, without photo. But, if there's no "England" on the tang, the razor was made before 1891.
