Default HELP!! I think I have RAD

Or I am having a lot of fun trying out new OLD things!! LOL
I bought a Germania Werks Oxford on ebay tonight for $9.99. Looks decent enough, and with all my practicing shaving AND honing, it's getting more confident and better, especially at honing. I honed up a few razors tonight that have near mirror polish on the bevel and pop hairs anywhere with little effort before lightly stropping them. I shaved with a Wadsworth, WISS & Sons, Mulcuto, Ramapo Co (about 156 years old - smiley), and all shaved smoothly and cleanly. I went over again with different razors to finish up. 3rd time, it was like putting a butter knife to my skin it was so easy and smooth. No drag, no hang and jumps, no cuts.

This is the OXFORD I picked up and I think it will be a nice one. Funny.... I really prefer a round point and I have quite a few spike points, and now another one.

I got done shaving this night and was looking for more hair.. LOL I have it bad!!! Please send hair tonic, Ogallala Bay Rum, or anything else that might help! Need new Revisor now... only problem is I want more than one model!! Ever happen to you?

Wow Gibbs, sounds like you didn't let the grass grow under your feet with this hobby!

And yes, you are now indeed suffering from full-blown RAD...

Thanks Ryan, my good friend to the north in Alberta. I was to Cardston Alberta once years ago during my honeymoon with my first wife. I was surprised that it is as low as it is in elevation. Lots of Amish around there..... I think back on it now, and I think they had a straight razor poking out of the jacket pocket.

One thing I am curious about. Have any of your lightly dulled down just the tip of the razor so that it doesn't nick you so bad on those spike points or the round point at the very tip?

    ADDED: OOPS!!
Should have gone to bed. I saw this on ebay as a buy it now for $12.95
    link: http://tinyurl.com/4ofpc8k
Shipping was 3.00 so I'm not too bad for total $15.98. It's a Hammond EXTRA, made in Solingen-Wald, Germany of Kayser Ellison Best Silver Steel. Has file jimps on top and bottom, scales look excellent. Called a HAMMOND EXTRA. Even has HAMMOND engraved on the scales.
I couldn't sleep seeing that it was only $12.95 and I had to see what it looks like in my hand for that price. You all know, don't you?? LOL

I think it is normal starting any new hobby to go a little overboard. If your one of the lucky ones you may find your holy grail razor and stop there.. otherwise you may end up turning into a collector and you will no longer have wallpaper but display boxes all over with razors in them to decorate your walls.

Kind of like Lay's Potato Chip commercial...."Bet ya can't eat just one". It certainly is an interesting situation, however, I'm not getting fat from potato chips. LOL

I really don't plan on making it a collection of "wall displays" since I prefer things that work and have some use to them as well. My Cousin, Edith, has a straight razor from her Dad, my Uncle Ben Yetter, and I ought to write her to see if she still has it and has any interest in it. Having someting from an Uncle or Grandfather would be rather unique.

Visited a local antique store and now have a little more knowledge of razors. There is one there, I think in the $30s that is marked ERN from Solingen Germany in very nice shape. *Big-grin* .

    Default I got it too

I know what your going through..

I started using straights last May, I ain't looked back. I don't think I will ever use a safety razor again.

I have a steadily growing collection of straights now, with my favorites being Henckels followed closely by Dubl ducks. I almost forgot, I am waiting on delivery of my first wedge. Courtesy of the classifieds on SRP...

I think I have it bad too...
