Is that a sheffield??
I've bought that razor from a granpa, he's a knife collector mostly. Its the heaviest blade I 've hold with some kind of copper(?) scales.. It seems to me thats a real wedge and the tang is very bulky. Its a 7/8 with a spine thickness of 6mm
Anyone knows what can that be?
Thanks in advance, sorry for the bad quality pics

The style of the blade is Sheffield or English at least, but if there are no visible marks on the blade you may never know for sure

Thanked: 3164Certainly a lovely looking blade you have there! It may or may not be from Sheffield - no way of knowing without the makers mark, at least.
I have seen those pressed one-piece metal scales (and have three or four of them myself) on quite a few old Swedish razors.
Swedish iron ore is of a very high quality, and an enormous amount of it was exported to Sheffield for steel-making, and apart from their own excellent razor-makers the Swedish admired quality Sheffield makes - I have a seven-day set Osborne RMS Shefield steel etched in swedish, and a Bengall with a Swedish mark on the tang, so there was a kind of two-way appreciation society going on then!
Enjoy your lovely razor.
Regards,
Neil

Thank you all. Unfortunatelly that razor is so old that i cant figure out what is written on the tang, but i think the last letter is "D"
Its so true about the Swedish-English give & take, I find very often that kind of razors here in swedish ebay: Bengall's with etchings that have been written in swedish language and razors from Eskilstuna that carry the name "sheffield" on them.
BTW if any of you has a request about finding an old swedish razor for a really low cost, just let me know, I will be glad to help. Its kind of sad to see all those razors roaming around instead of ending up in the hands of somebody who's going to appreciate themLast edited by Dalton; 03-18-2011 at 04:29 PM.
