Default Rocky Patel Cigar Box Razor Storage

Well, this was a fun half-hour project.

Slots cut are just a hair over 5/16ths; the dividers are 1/16th.

Quick, secure, and cheap if you don't count the cost of the cigars.[1]

The box is just large enough to fit "regular" razors. The Filis are too long, and the big honking Sheffields stand a bit too tall, but for everything else this works well.

[1] If you live in a town large enough to have a cigar shop, they will probably be selling these Patels by "the each", in which case they'll have these boxes empty and likely free for the asking.

I dig it. Is there a clasp to secure the lid on the box too?

No, but one obtained from a hobby shop could be added easily enough.

The husband of one of my co-workers owns a cigar shop. I may have to visit his shop.

Very nicely done! I had a few razors just stored in a paper covered Spanish cedar box for ~ 20 yrs. When I found SRP and took to learning about straight razors I dug them out and there wasn't any rust or patina on the blades. I think the wood and especially the Spanish cedar is good for razor storage.

Perhaps cedar oil repels more than just moths. Perhaps it prevents oxidation.

Great idea! I'm a big fan of cigar boxes for "trinket" storage! I use them for storing my watch straps and other sundry stuff in my workshop. The RP box you used looks like it was custom made for the standard razors! I'll have to be on the lookout for one of those!
