Storsven,
Throw up some pics when you get a chance. My scale making work has hit a snag, and between work and family my Sterling blade is in a box in the bottom of my razor tote continuing to patiently await the day it gets a new shell and can be used again. I never have found anymore about Sterling razors than is contained in this thread, but at least there's something here!

So we now know that Sterling Razors from Baltimore made at least 2 razors during their existence! I'll try to get some pics this week.

Sterling Company, Baltimore, MD - Straight Razor made in the USA
So this will settle the Sterling Razor case. There was a Sterling Company in Baltimore, Maryland. I got mine for very little on the bay. I was the only bidder. It had some surface rust spots but looked like a worthy newbie restoration project. Some sanding and polishing, finishing with 2000 and jeweler's rogue, brought out a real beauty. It is a nice 6/8. Handle looks like bakelite and only needed a rag and some plastic polish to come back to life. No, I didn't take the scales apart. I keep breaking them when I do that. After sharpening with Norton 4000, King 6000, Chinese natural 12k w slurry, Chinese natural 12k w/o slurry and some black Dovo on balsa. It is a very nice shaver.

Esteemed senior members! I look at the SRP Wiki. Would you call this razor a half hollow?

Thanked: 4249Sterling Company, Baltimore MD was more then likely a distributor of imported goods, since ive found and identical razor with the same markings as yours, but on the other side of the tang marked Germania cutlery works. Nevertheless a fine razor for sure.
And yes Half Hollow!Last edited by Martin103; 11-16-2012 at 02:14 PM.

Thanks for the extra info and the confirmation of my guess! The razor is definitely a great shaver.
And you are certainly right about Sterling being some kind of importer/distributor, not manufacturer. I looked up the address on Google maps. 6 East Mulberry is an old, three story brick building, definitely old enough to have been there when these razors were popular.Last edited by Storsven; 11-16-2012 at 03:13 PM.
