Old Sheffield geezer...
Hi All! I got my hands on an old Sheffield blade that has "Wellington" on the scales (ivory I think, even though a little broken ) and then "OPPORTIEN..." or something on the tang. Does anyone know what this blade is or have seen something like it before? Thank you, for the help! /Mikael

I know what she is - old and beautiful! Can't help beyond that, though. Really really nice one.

Thank you guys! I´m very happy with the condition and how the quality of the steel feels/looks ... and that she´s mine
Funny though that the "Wellington" on the scales is upside down. I never heard that the Duke of W was into that sort of thing ...

Judging from the condition of the pivot pin , I would say that the blade has been removed , and reinstalled or replaced . There's no guarantee that the blade is original to the scales . Re-pin the blade , hone it up , and see how it shaves . Maybe if you put a WTB in the classifieds , you can find 2 pin washers to match the ones already there , or maybe one of the restorers can fix it up for you .
