    Default GB straight razor ?

    Hello gentlemen:
Today i went to an antiques shop here in my city Santiago de Chile.
I found a very nice razor.

For me it is a wedge or very near.
On blade almost vanished I can read "Nš 2", with magnifier lens.
On spine is etched "Silver Steel" and what i think is a arrow.
Tang stamped with GB and a cross (+)

According to seller, who BTW considered the most important thing, scales are ivory. They are thin and cute.
Is there someone who knows anything about my new/old razor?

Thanks for any help and greetings from Santiago.

That's a fine looking razor you've got there, with nice lines and an 'arris' profile (cross section). I have razors by that manufacturer, though they have been much larger 8/8s and 8/8+, and if I correctly recall, with an anchor symbol next to 'GB.'

The scales look to be ivory. I believe I can make out the schraeger lines which are a keratin grain found in elephant ivory.

    Default I did my homework.

Thanks Scipio, your data for an anchor allowed me to find this razor which had been auctioned in january in Ebay. (Item Nš 110631670435)

As you accurately said "+ GB anchor" razors usually are larger. This wedge is huge. 9/8 according to seller. Mine is "only" 6/8.
Also in an old thread here in SRP there is a photo of a blade with same mark as mine. Mr. Croaker et als. gives some interesting references. Thanks to all. GB + blade
So GB is George Bishop or George Brittain ? Or some unkown craftman whose work we can enjoy for so long time?
Once again a straight razor has given me a lot of fun, besides of shaving.

    Have nice days.

Your GB is absolutely stunning, in those ivory scales, shoulderless, and double jimped. Thanks for sharing! My GB blade still does not have scales, but someday it will. I would prefer ivory, and have a couple of sets of ivory scales that might fit.
