    Default Felt Pad Razor Works

I found one of these in nearly mint condition. Does anyone know what oil was used in the felt pad and if this was, or if re-oiling the pad is even a good idea?

Also is this an American razor or a re-branded German? It honed up great.

Cool razors! I have a nice one and the original box says "Sheffield Made" I often wondered what "Unpolished Diamond Antiseptic" was applied to the felt! Sold out of St. Louis!

Interesting! I wouldn't have thought Sheffield. I was thinking of putting gun oil or some sort of silicon in the felt pad. I'm a little worried to use it as is as the dry felt will hold water and cause rust.

Mine is still pristine.I have not used it though. It does have a patent# on the back tang. I wonder if that would shed any light?

Mine is the same "Anseptic" on the blade, "Felt Pad Razor Works, St Louis, Mo" and "Pat, April 25/05" on the tang

Ok, this is pretty cool. I just remembered that Google has a patent search. Here it is

Thats very cool! Thanks for the info! Sounds like you could put a bit of mineral oil on the felt and the razor's edge would be less prone to rusting! No wonder mine is so pristine! Thanks for finding it!
