Default advice sought on a straight razor on you know where..............

I'm listening to the experts now on purchases and would like to know if this is a razor that meets the minimum for a quality razor. It is B&B 8/8 FULL HOLOW GROUND SHAVE READY STRAIGHT RAZOR - eBay (item 200588757168 end time Apr-18-11 22:06:36 PDT)

Thank you in advance for your advice (I think that's alliteration!).

Short answer is no. Get a shave ready razor from the classifieds or one of the trusted vendors here.

No. B&B is on the do not buy list.

So even the junk peddlers learned the "Shave Ready" trick i guess

Good to know. This is why people recommend staying away from ebay when you are new.

Seeing them make a "new" "razor" that looks more legit does make me wonder if it's really a razor... But I wouldn't gamble with my money.

I obviously agree that it should be on the do not buy list but is it? I might be missing it but I don't see it on "Brands of straight razors to avoid".

I agree, I can't see it either. I was looking for the "brands of strops to avoid" or something but I could not find any such file either.

B&B is short for Bread and Butter knife.

Also I am wondering if some of the straight razor sellers are buffing the life of of the old antique store vintages to make them look good on ebay. I bought one, on the cheap, that was very bright but the metal part a little way up from the edge is so thin you can easily push it either way with your finger. Temper removal is something to consider with so much "rework" as well.
