    Default New Razor From Ebay

Just got this from eBay do you think it worth to get sent out and be honed and fixed up or just keep it for stropping practice.

Btw I sprayed some Scrubbing bubbles on it to clean it up a bit. Afterwards I noticed some sort of funky smell and it was not the bubbles lol. What might it be.

I would have it honed and cleaned up.
It is a fine razor, and will be a grand shaver for years to come.
Practice stropping with a dull kitchen knife instead

Ah exactly as I thought. That funky smell as you so describe it is a rare steel defect that fully hollow ground razors are particularly prone to. You'd need to send it to an experienced member in order to be safely disposed of and it will likely cost you a small fee due to the special anti-contamination equipment and sterilisation fluids required. It is compulsory that you do so - check your government's policy on razor legislation. I however, would be willing to do this for free....

Did you by any chance clean/scrub the scales? Some old ones are made of bakelite, and they give off a funny rubbery smell when put near warm water. Otherwise, if the blade itself gave off an odd smell it could be just about anything, depending on where that razor has been.

I was kidding man, no one would ever fall for that! And I wouldn't expect them to! I do like those French points though, it should make a fine shaver.
