    Default japanese fixed straight.....authentic?

    hi guys,

I've read up on Inoue Tosuke and his razors are getting more desirable, as he's now passed on.

any idea if this is authentic? It might even be a member here that's selling it, if so, I don't mean any offense. I'm bidding on it, just thought I'd check.

    Thanks.

I'm no expert on Japanese razors, but I have seen a couple that looked similar before, and they were very fine shavers and totally genuine.
Perhaps some of the learned gentlemen with special interest in Japanese razors will chime in to give you a more qualitative guess/answer.
    Good luck on the bidding!

You need to read the listing carefully . First the seller lists the razor as new , then later says it's worn with no nicks and chips . Then they claim it to be shave ready , and in the next sentence they say it can be honed and restored , to be used or left like it is , to be put on display . That's too many contradictions for my liking . I really can't believe anything they say , and I'm inclined to believe they don't know jack about that razor . Bid accordingly , and buyer beware .

Garbage. Both the razor and the listing.

    hmm,

Well Ive seen them with the blue handle and the older style, but you're right, the listing isnt very good.

The same seller has quite a few Japanese razors for sale, and it looks like he's duplicated the add for most of them.

I think listing it as new must just be an error, because obviously, it isnt.

I'd be picking it up to do a restoration on it. I'll see how it goes, but knowing that it may not be legit, I'll try to chase it down for $20!

The razor is far too worn, there isn't enough steel left to restore. It's not a question of authenticity, but putting your effort into a worthwhile razor. That one looks like it's worn almost to the wrought iron, which won't make much of a shaver.

Jim is right. Much too much wear. The profile is toast. The best you could do is try and grind it down into a frankenrazor.
