    Default long tailed razor

i have come across a razor with a unique (to me) tail design (i am assuming i am reading the wiki right about the tail being the curved part oposite the blade) and i am wondering if anyone has seen it. the tail is very long, longer than any of the other razors that i have
i can put three fingers on it while holding it
i wil post pictures when i get home and charge my camera
    any information would be appreciated

Is the mfg a DePews? There are a few other mfg out there, but this one is the most recognizable...

Apart from customs, I've only see DePews and a Joseph Rogers with really long tails.

it is a Joseph Rodgers (the box says Joseph Rodgers and sons ltd), i will post pics when i get home, came with the box, blade looks to be in repairable condition
how common are the Joseph rodgers with the long tails?

also, do they end up as good shavers

the condition of the blade is:
some surface rust, no pitting that i can see
slightly curved cutting edge, needs rehoning

the box is in rough shape

also, what is the use of the long tail?
    just a better grip?

If it is in a decent shape, I'll bet you end up with a great shaving tool.
I have a Rodgers or two, and they are super shavers.
It all depends on how much wear and damage the razor has.

The curving might be how the blade was made, not nesesarry an error.
Smiling blades, as we call them here, are favoured by many.
Good luck with it. Can't wait to see the pictures

When you post a picture of yours, it'll be the second I've seen so pretty rare. I think the long tail was just to be different. I don't think the grip is better or worse.

I love Rodgers blades. That company has made some very unique blades over the years...so has W&B. I have some very unique blades from both companies that I haven't seen made before. There are probably some of the other old sheffield companies as well.

here are some pictures of the rodgers blade, the rust seems to only be surface, but if you can tell something different, please correct me

what do yall think about the condition?
good enough to be repairable without a full restore (which i dont have money for and cant do myself)

That razor looks pretty healthy to me. I would give it a good cleaning, get it honed up and try it. If you can not hone it yourself then you should send it out, but I think you have a wonderful shaver there.
