Those Ivory scales are still being sold, even on eBay. Since eBay does not allow the selling of ivory items, and most of the folks selling things they found at yard sales, estate sales and so on really don't know for sure that they were Ivory. A lot of Celluloid (light yellow) Schales (handles) out there but the really pale stuff with single pins deserve a second look if the rest of the blade is respectable.

@Gibbs
I see you received a lot of good info on distinguishing ivory scales. I only have one razor with true ivory scales and it feels totally different than celluloid. It warms up in the hand and has a very luxurious feel. My wife said it warms up just like gold jewelry does compared to steel or base metal.
My 6/8 Torrey with ivory scales had been listed on eBay and I was winning the auction when eBay suddenly cancelled the auction because it was an ivory item. Fortunately, the seller and I got together and arranged a private sale. It is one of my favorite razors. The laws regarding ivory are pretty specific and I checked to make sure it was a legal purchase.
