Bresnick -Puma
Hey guys,
I managed to snag a vintage Puma in excellent shape the other day, and it wasn't until it got to my door this evening that I turned it over and saw Bresnick, New York on the back side of the tang along with the two waddling ducks. So, those of you who might have one of these oddballs, what do you think of it? I am assuming it will be a good shaver as both the old Pumas and the Dubl Ducks get rave reviews around here. The blade says 350 on it and the scales are black two pin scales as you can see below with a white wedge. The one thing I wonder about is if the scales are original because they only have two pins. All of the Ducks and Pumas I have seen have had three pin scales. Anyway, here she is...

I have a Puma/Bresnick and it is just like yours including the very plain black scales.

Here's a few, all good shavers. One with "Solingen" in the scales is probably a rescale. Congrats, if yours is anything like mine it ought to be a good shaver.

Gee! Those are rare! I would suppose that Bresick bought and sold some Pumas for a period. It must have been a short run? Nice Work to you both!

Besnick didn't make razors. They were an importer and distributor of barber's supplies in general. They eventually became bresduck and then Pearlduck but they bought the razors with their logo on them from various outfits over the years. Puma was one of them. Who else made them, or if Puma made them all, is anybody's guess. Their stuff was always top shelf though.

Thanks for the info guys. I am really looking forward to getting this one into shaving shape. Between scoring this razor, a Richard Schmitz seven day set, and a mint Schlieper eye brand recently I should be good to go for a while................Yeah right..LOL!
