Thanked: 443Delaminating horn scales :(
I'm trying to save a nice old set of faux tortoise scales. They want to warp away from the blade so much that if you center one on a countertop, the two ends are about 3/4" off the surface. I've been flattening them in a little press I built, and they've begun to delaminate in the process. At some point I boiled them outside the press and that's when the trouble started.
My thought is to mix up some very runny epoxy, let it soak into the gaps, then press the scales once more between wax paper sheets until it sets. Is this a sound plan? Any other techniques to try?
Many thanks!"These aren't the droids you're looking for." "These aren't the droids we're looking for." "He can go about his business." "You can go about your business."
