Thanked: 4Need info on Identifying pre revolutionary war razors
ok, i have a friend who is a period re-enactor and has done a lot to help me out with things
i would like to find him a pre revolutionary war razor as a gift
what brands (if any) should i look for for pre-revolution razors?
how would i go about identifying razors if no brand as pre-revolution?
thanks in advance for the help

Go to the razor club forum and check http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...d-shavers.html Here is a Rogers 'Cast Steel' from that period and another that is marked 'Warranted' IIRC. Notice the short monkey tail and the edge going into the tang continuously with little or no demarcation between the two. In the early 1800s the tang began to be distinct from the edge. There are other subtleties but that is a quick way of distinguishing a late 1700s razor IME.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
