Dating a Joseph Rodgers and Sons
I wonder if any one could help me with info about this razor I have. Its a Josephs Rodgers and Sons, its marked as "cutlers to their majesties" and then what looks like "N 9 6" it could be "N O 6" Norfolk Street Sheffield. It has Hallmark (?) of a kind of cross and a star. Im curious to know more about its age, and im a little concerned about trying to polish it up in case its a better than just a junk razor for a noob like me to practice on. Its in really really good condition, no damage to scales, they metal though some spots of rust does not appear to have any deep spots and seems more tarnished than pitted. There is little to no signs of obvious wear, although there is a kind of circular scratching on both sides but its not deep at all.
Any info people can give me about this razor would be great
Thanks!

The absence of "England" on the tang means it is pre-1890. I would probably guess that it was made between 1860-1890, though some more informed members may have a better window to put this in.

There is some history in the WIKI.
As I can see on the pic., the razor is hollow ground.
So, the razor was made approximately 1870-1891.
Joe is right, stamp without "England" is pre-The 1891 Madrid Trade Accords.Alex Ts.
