7-Day Set "Caschmiso" AGUILA GOLD...Richard Schmitz... Info Needed...Pics Included
Hi guys,
I recently acquired a seven day set that appears to be almost unused although it is missing the "Tuesday" razor. I purchased several razors from this person and they were all supposed to have come from from an old barber's estate(yeah, I know, that's what they all say). Anyway, all of the other razors I bought from this estate were of high quality, i.e. Puma-Duck, Carl Schlieper "Eye" Brand, Otto Busch Weltmeister, DD Goldedge, DD Satinedge, Case Temperite, and J R Torrey. So, even though I have not been able to find hardly any information on the razors in this set, I am hoping that some of you will be able to help shed some light on them, and that they too are good razors.
As you can see in the pictures below(sorry for the poor quality) they have some ornate roses and gold foiling on the blade where it says "AGUILA GOLD", and it also says "CASCHMISO" on the front side of the tang. On the back side of the tang it says "Richard Schmitz" with Solingen wriiten underneath. As can can see they also say Solingen on the scales which appear to be faux tortoise. A few of the razors have warped scales, and the blades are somewhat loose in most of them, but I guess that is from sitting unused for many years.
If any of y'all have any information about these razors I would love to hear it. Also, should any of you out there own, or come across the "Tuesday" razor......I'm a buyer!

That's the problem with 7-day sets, I've never seen one of them getting back together after it's been split up.
They seem like standard solingen fare. You should hone them (or at least one) and you'll know how good they are. I'd bet they're not bad at all. They seem well made, which is more or less the norm with these vintage things, but as you know there's only one way to know for sure.
Enjoy the find!

Too bad about your Tuesday razor. I have two 7 day sets which are complete and I have a Wednesday razor from a Carl Wustof set. One of the mentors bought an incomplete set and sold them individually. You might turn a handsome profit doing that.
On the other hand you might get lucky and find that Tuesday blade. I'm sure that you will post if you do. Good luck.......JERRY
OOOPS! Pass the styptic please.

Thanked: 18I don't know why people would want to break up a razor set. It's like breaking up granny's fine china.
"Here John, you can have the lid to the teapot, Janie can have the pot itself, Susan and Michael can have the cups and Albert can use the saucers for his cats..."

Well, it's usually for the money. People are willing to pay more per razor if they buy one or two only. Plus some just don't have an interest in a whole set of identical razors, but would very much like one.
It's worked well for me though, my tortoise heljestrands all came from sets that somebody split.

Thought I had your missing Tuesday Aguila Gold, but when I looked it was Thursday. Exact pattern as your set, and a great shaver too. I also have another Aguila Gold that was not part of a set. Beautiful coloring on the blade etch. The following is all I have on Richard Schmitz:
Richard Schmitz, Solingen, Friedrich-Wilhelm-Strasse 53 in 1939. Brand name: 'Caschmiso', 'World Shipper'. Open-blade razor maker.

Oh man! Could you possibly stare at it hard enough to make that Thursday turn into a Tuesday?...Lol! Thanks for the info on the razors.
As a side note, since making my original post, I have found a Worthpoint auction where a "Tuesday" identical to the ones in my set sold not too long ago. I keep wondering if it is my missing razor, and if there is anyway to contact the buyer to try and purchase it.
