Default My father's secretly awesome SR collection

I grew up in a household that did no classic shaving. My father used to, I was told, and I'd seen his brushes in our bathroom, but that's about it.

I went back there recently and checked out what he has, and wanted to share, as well as ask for information about one in particular. I thought he had 2 straights, and 2 brushes, purchased in the 70s. Turns out, this stuff was purchased between 1960 and 1975, but that was about all I had right. He has the following:
-9 bricks of "Bloc Hyalin" alum from some French outlet in the West Indies
-A vintage Old Spice ceramic soap cup
-A Yardley soap cup that looks like garbage
-A pair of Illinois strops, one says "Chicago Strop" and the other says something about a shell, both have a canvas strop attached.
-2 Finest Badger brushes with stands
-an assortment of Pinaud Clubman aftershave and treatment stuff
    And the razors:
-A Puma High Class with moderate rust pitting, and the original travel case--his only used razor
-A Doubl Duck Dwarf in MINT condition..and I do mean MINT, it still has the wrapping paper
-2 Robert Klaas razors with the Kissing Cranes logo
-2 C.V. Heljestrand razors, one is really short, the other has a broken scale. One says "MK 31" and the other says "MK 6" on the back(haven't found any info on the MK 6).

And the following: A Dovo Fritz Bracht 25. Can't find any info on this specifically. Can anyone tell me about it? Is it a good shaver? Collectable? etc? This isn't actually the case for it, that's for the Robert Klaas, it actually has the original blue case.

Just thought I'd share. He has a nice collection gathering dust, I tried to get a brush and his Doubl Duck, but to no avail!

Welcome to SRP John. The razors you mentioned above are quality razors and worth using and/or collecting. The Fritz Bracht Dovo is from a popular era of Dovo manufacturing. If you search SRP for 'Fritz Bracht' you should get some good hits. A google search would also return results. Hope you can get to use them some day. The strops are good but nothing out of the ordinary. The other items have their place in wet shaving. Read through the WIKI on the menu bar at the top of the page to get familiar with straight razors and wet shaving.

It is a good shaver, the ones I've had/seen have all had gold wash on the blade, not just the tang. I think Facharbeit.
I'd say it's collectible too, but may be less so than if it had the gold wash. Though what do I know about collecting...

Let me get this straight, your pop has all of this ,doesn't use any of it and he wont give you any? If that's the story, that's a lulu, there is nothing I wouldn't do for my kids, and they know it. Just the other day my oldest one got some razzing from one of his friends because he saw him give me a hug and kiss good-bye,my son without missing a beat told me later that his response to his friend was "could YOU give your old man a hug and kiss?"-to which he got no answer,Ive never been prouder. Tell dad to cough up a few pieces or offer to buy them,if there not being used that's a sin especially since there so nice
