Thiers-Issard Sparticus, Eagle Brand, Le Canadian?
Just a quick question: are the above razors all the same but they've just slapped a different brand on them?
Thanks so much;

I can't be 100% sure which ones you're talking about without seeing them, but I'm thinking they could all possibly be made by Thiers Issard but in different years. I think I remember seeing a Canadian being sold on eBay but it looked to be a vintage model. I'm sure someone who knows a bit more will respond, though.

Thanked: 240TI puts different etching and gold wash on the same razor for different vendors. Eagle brand is only sold by knifecenter, le Canadian by Rasage Poulin, le theirnois by fendrihan, art of shaving by art of shaving... And I'm sure there are others I dont know. None of the names are limited to any specific TI model instead represents the vendor it was purchased from. For example Thiers Issard Straight Razors - Shaving | Fendrihan Shaving Store here you can see multiple le theirnois razors at fendrihan of varying widths. from 5/8-7/8. When rasage poulin was still up they used to have an even wider selection. The Spartacus I am less sure about but I believe I remember multiple vendors carrying it. It was also seen in varying styles mainly 6/8 and 7/8 but varying from spainish point to round point. TI also has a wolf and ram labeled razor that I believe may be a "generic" as in is not specifically licensed to an individual retailer. So in answer to your question none of those razors are single models but rather a label of the vendor that sells them. I picked all this up when I was searching for my latest purchase a historic worked back 7/8th branded as an eagle, at the time rasage poplin was selling the identical model with it's own le Canadian brand alongside an identical spartacus... Sorry for dragging on but I hope that answers your question.

Thiers-Issard makes a longish list of razors.
Some of these are rebranded, some are made to specification
and have different scales or spine work.
All TI razors are quality!
My Sparticus is well hardened and lightly tempered when
compared to some of my other razors.
Some TI razors are made from old LE GRELOT forgings.
Some from Carbonsong’ C135 steel blanks.
Some from Extra-fine carbon steel.
All are quality...
Some of the lower price TI blades are
lower price because the scales are lower
cost.
It pays to have a TI professionally honed
one time for sure. Depending on when it
was made the factory edge can be difficult
to refresh as the bevel is not well set
for hand honing from the factory.
Based on my Sparticus... well recommended.

Thanks so much! That's some great information. Those 3 specifically look the same. I was just at work so I wasn't able to check properly by reading about all 3. Ill have a chance when I get to the hotel. If you guys like I'll post my findings. Once again thanks for the information.
