Just my luck!
So I ordered a Dovo 5/8 blonde buffalo horn. I was so excited when I received it yesterday that I don't remember anything between the time I was notified that it arrived and the time that I actually held it in my hands. Then... (suspense music)... I noticed that when I fold the blade into the scales, it had to be centered-in every time I close it. In other words, the blade would touch the left side of the scales if I didn't center it every time.
This is a brand new razor, so now I have to wait for the new(er) one to come in and return the one I have now. Obviously it's not the retailer's fault, as a matter of fact, they were very happy to replace it.
I was just wondering, have any of you guys ever experienced something like this with a new razor, particularly bone/horn? Also, does this mean that this type of scale can eventually warp with time? What are your experiences with these types of scales?

Thanked: 46Hi Moodster, Sounds to me like this one slipped past quality control. I have bone and horn scales that are well over 100 years old still in perfect condition. Good luck on the return, and don"t lose faith in Dovo. This was probally just a fluke. Best, wildhog

I bought one of the new Dovos about two months ago (in wood scales though) and it aligns perfectly. Gets sharp as hell too.

Thanks guys, this is my 2nd Dovo (first w/ non-plastic scales). I got another Dovo because I love the one I have. I haven't lost faith in the brand at all. Things like this happen. But I must admit, you guys really calmed my nerves. Thanks!!!

I have 5 Dovo , and 4 of them have either scrathes, little crack on the scale, crooked scale/washer, etc. and I still love Dovo, doesnt stop me buying more of 'em in the future.

Nice purchase, shame about the defect. I have used 2 Dovos and they shaved with excellence. Which model did you go for? I ask because I would avoid the Dovo with single piece horn scales, as although they look good, their balance is awful.
