I have been considering buying a 4th razor, and i have been attracked by Edwin Jagger, the last time i looked on the good razor brands on SRP, but i could not find it, and its not on the Bad razor list either. Is this razor any good,

I could be wrong, but the one I set eyes on appeared to be a rebranded Dovo Best Quality.

Edwin Jagger razors are made for them by Dovo - same as our classic razor. They are exactly the same quality as any other Dovo razor.

I might be wrong, but from what I´ve heard, back in the days, there were a lot of smaller razor manufacturers that were producing for the "majors", but also for themselves. Thus, a lot of Solingen razors are technically the same. I haven´t really heard of an old Solingen brand to avoid, yet (Today, things look a bit different. Those Razolution things are way too expensive for their performance. They work, though.). Maybe, there are some Brands that are a little superior, but when I look at the "hyped" Solingen brands (Dublducks, C-mon, Globusmann,…), there are two things I notice:
1. Most of them are produced for export
2. They have mainly flat points/Spike points (Which seem to have been the preferred Point shapes in the US, while most Razors produced for the german market have round Points).
With this two things in mind, I get the suspicion, that the mentioned brands are famous, because they are well known, rather than being so much better than any other Solingen Brand.
Got a little OT, sorry. My Point is: With a decent vintage Solingen blade, it´s hard to find something bad. There may well be better and worse, but all together, on a high level.
Regards,
tok

Got one myself and it is a fine piece of steel. It is a "rebranded" dovo. However when I got mine it was not shave ready (some honing and stropping) and i turned out fine.
