Thanked: 3795Torrey made some of the best razors ever. They are a perfect example of the high caliber of American steel. Definitely hone it and USE it!

I'm also debating if I should send it away to get honed or save up and buy a set of hones for myself.

Torrey's are wonderful razors, but they are hard steel and can be difficult to hone at times. I would say it's well worth the $15 and would suggest sending it out to be honed.

I wouldn't learn to hone on that razor. As far as I can tell she is a beaut and should be restored as well. If you want to learn to hone I would pick up some lesser brands or no names to start on, there are plenty of high quality solingen, sheffield and american razors out there with not much of a history behind them.

Go to restorations and customs, look for a post called Tequila sunrise-that's mine courtesy of glen, and its one of the best razors I own,and that's out of twenty big name brands-absolutely one of the best shavers you ll ever have. Get it honed by one of our honemisters, and you wont be sorry,I know I'm not.
