might i ask if the local gentleman is a razor guy? many knife sharpeners CLAIM that they can hone a razor, many even claim that they shave with a straight, but most seem to be able to turn away new shavers with their less than acceptable edges.
i don't want to offend, but it would be sad to lose another shaver to this common malady.

Thanked: 522Gerrit just said a mouthful there. You can't hone a razor with the Lansky System. Get it honed through the SRP Classifieds for best results.

Thanked: 46You need at least one good razor that has been honed by a pro so you will have a standard to judge any other razors that you might obtain and any razors that you might hone yourself as your learning curve grows. Welcome to SRP and please keep us posted on your progress. Best Regards and Happy Shaving, wildhog

Thanked: 275If it fits your budget, it's a good choice. Beautiful blade shape. Might need honing, though.
