    Default Would like some info about P. Hospital Le Grelot's

    Hello,

    I just scored this razor and would like some info on it and to know how good they are. I read some good reviews on it. It says "P. Hospital Le Grelot". I just paid $53 dollars for it on Ebay. I read conflicting posts that it was made by Thiers-Issard, and then another that it was made my the P. Hospital Co. Can anyone out there give me a straight answer?     Le Grelot hospital razors was a French outfit that made great razors. They went under and/or TI bought them out. TI made razors from the Grelot blanks until they were out of them and then began producing their own. Either way you've got a good shaver there at a good price. My guess is that is one of the vintage Grelots. Get it pro honed and enjoy it.
    Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    Your razor, from Estonian seller, was made by P.Hospital & Cie from Thiers.
    This company was the owner of the "Le Grelot" trademark.
    Later, the company and trademark were bought by Thiers-Issard.
    Thiers-Issard company use "Le Grelot" trademark till now.
    So, nice razor from reputable maker.

    Now that makes sense. I got a little agressive and thought I might've overpaid for it. Thank you much for the info. I can't wait till I receive it.

    Manah, Ahlan wa Sahlan and Shalom! Thank you for the info and the Grelot picture. Do you think I got it at a good price too? Also, I have never bought from Estonia before, should I be careful? The person has some other great razors I was considering as well buy I was worried about being out of the country.

    I can't say about price. But nothing extra/special. Good deal.
    I know this seller, and there were no problems with delivery till now.

    I'm a huge fan of the P Hospital Le Grelot straights. I think you'll find it to be an excellent shaver once honed.

    I got a wedge p. hospital Le Grelot. Very smooth shaver. I have to keep it that way though...lots of honewear.

    I have 1 NOS Le Grelot P-Hospital (4/8), 1 Le Grelot P-Hospital Medaille d'or Paris (5/8), 2 Le Grelots 150 Universal Cutlery NY (5/8) and 1 new Thiers-Issards Le Grelot (6/8) and all of them are excellent shavers.

    You did very well. It is a good razor and a decent price. Just make sure it is well honed and it should be a great shaver.
