Default okay, i always get the size mixed up on razors

when ever i look at a razor i see 5/8 4/8 and i just want to make this clear. That a 7/8 razor is really big from spine to the bevel. And 1/8 is really short. If i am completely wrong please do not hesitate to call me a razor noob

Yes, you're right. Those numbers are the width of the blade from edge to spine in inches. So a 5/8 razor is 5/8" from edge to spine.

I was clueless at first about this too, a lot of places don't really designate that it's based on inches so at first sight I just didn't realize it.

To help you out a bit, and not to offend you if it's completely obvious but, it's just based on 1 inch... 1/16 pretty much being smallest and 16/16 the largest. Reducing the fraction is what brings it to 5/8, 6/8, 7/8 and 8/8. 7/8=14/16 6/8=12/16 5/8=10/16 just all divided by two... you'll occasionally see the 13/16 or something because it just can't reduce further.

some do go over 1 inch and that's just like 17/16 or 9/8
