Thanked: 2Dovo Bismarck 6/8
Just ordered the Dovo Bismarck 6/8 from Classic Shaving, can't wait till it gets here. I read a lot of good reviews about it and it looks very nice. I'm getting one that's professionally honed by them, I hope they're good. Anyone buy from there before? What should I expect?

My understanding is that all razors from CS are honed by the Honemeister. I may be wrong, but I think that's true.
Also, those razors are BEAUTIFUL. I'd love to own one in full MOP, someday....

I have honed and rescaled several Birthmarks and always liked the save from them. I was going to pick one up for my personal collection then had a big French point 8/8 Dovo pass my way and ended up getting it. Not sure who does their honing. Lynn just does SRD razors last I heard so I am not sure who they use now. Watch the gold wash. Any kind of polish will rub the wash and blade frosting off. Just oil it or wipe it with a silicone cloth after you shave and it should be good.

Fodder: I posted about Honda Spray Polish & Cleaner not hurting the goldwash I tried it on (Hess 44). If you have one that's not fancy/costly/critical - you might give it a whirl. 'Would love to hear if others find the same behavior.

Thanked: 522I've got three BISMARKS and as always I wipe them with TufGlide and then Camelia oil. Never had any problems with long-term storage.

Thanked: 94I have a 6/8th's bismark in red. It is a great shave and keeps its edge quite a bit longer that my other dovo's (unsure why all were honed by lynn). It is my favorite shave (for now, i have a 6/8 ram horn TI that i ordered for my birthday on the way).
Enjoy that Razor!

I have one in black scales and it's an excellent shaver, definitely a good choice!
Of the production DOVO's I reckon the Bismarck is right up there with the bergischer lowe, it's that good.
And they look great!

I've never tried the Dovo Bismarck, but they sure look good. Almost pulled the trigger on one today, but a vintage Revisor picked the longest straw.
Maybe next time....Need help or tutoring? Check out the .

Thanked: 1195I have a 6/8 Bismarck with red scales, and she's a looker for sure. Great shaver, too. My main complaint is the filed spine - it looks very nice, but it always scratches up my strop during the flip. I compensate by using scotch tape on the spine. Yes it is a bit extra work and is something you should be prepared for (unless you don't mind marks on your strop), but otherwise it's a fine razor.
