Diamond Razor Co.?
I've been seeing this name pop up in my research rather frequently. Oddly enough, however, I can't find a lick of information, other than they were based in Boston, MA. This is really frustrating for me, since whenever I want to know something I hop online. There is, of course, a lot of misinformation, but if one knows what one is doing, sorting through the drivel is not particularly difficult. I guess my real frustration lies in the fact that I can't find any information ("mis-" or otherwise) on this company online, and a trip to the library is out of the question due to lack of a babysitter.
So, my questions are:
What kind of general knowledge can anyone share with me about this company? If you know their razors well, how would you rate them in terms of overall quality? And, most importantly, where can I find this (and more) information myself?
As I'm sure I've made quite obvious, I don't mind not knowing things, but I loathe not having the ability to know them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks gents!
Seth

According to Goins' Encyclopedia they were in business circa 1901 - 1904. I have a Diamond and it has very good steel.

Thanked: 46"Diamond" is almost like a catch all term. Diamond, Blue Diamond, Black Diamond, Diamond Edge and on and on. I do have a razor that just says Diamond on the tang and is a great shaver. Manna might be able to shed light on this subject. Best, wildhog

It's not actually a particular razor I'm asking about. What I was looking for specifically was just information about The Diamond Razor Co., Boston, Mass. itself. Just sort of a history lesson for myself, I suppose. lol Of secondary importance is whether anyone has a razor from them, and what do they think of it. I'm really just a collector, I suppose. Some people collect straight razors, some collect stamps, I collect knowledge. lol I just found the name of the company one day, and I'd never heard of it, so I looked it up. Since then I haven't been able to figure out anything else. I can go online and get a history lesson with almost any other razor company I've come across, but this one just eludes me. lol Thank you for your help.

You will find there is very little information with most straight razors. A few of the larger outfits especially the ones still in existence are less of a problem. Many of these outfits were mom and pop types enterprises in business a very few years and to find more than a line or two about them is probably impossible. If you were to do a real research project you could go to the city where they were in business and research old civil records and business records and locate employees and their descendants and interview them. However that's probably not what you are interested in doing. I'm afraid much of this stuff occupies a very minor place in history.

I was worried the answer would be something like that. I am very interested in doing something like that, but have neither the time nor the money. Thanks.
