Thanked: 485New 'Emil Kronenberg' Razor
Hi, what do people think of this razor I bought yesterday? Is it a reasonable razor? From what I gather it was manufactured from 1925 to 1932. It's my third razor. The first one was a Burrell Top Flight (no. 1 marked on tang). From what I gather the Burrell appears to be rather a humble razor, but I find it shaves really nicely, of course I don't really have anything to compare it with, other than the 7/8 W&B (pre 1891 I gather from the lack of country of origin mark) that I swapped for a younger 4/8 W&B. The 7/8 lasted all of 5 minutes in my employ. It'll be interesting when I have all three to compare them, I am quite liking the full hollow Burrell.
Just wondering what the opinion of the Emil Kronenberg might be, knowing of course that beauty is in the eye of the beholder...
It'll also be interesting to compare the slightly rounded toe of the Kronenberg and the slightly curved (I think it's called a 'smile') edge of the W&B against the rather nasty spike of the Burrell...
I wonder which one (if any) becomes my 'standard' use razor and which my 'Sunday' razor? I'm thinking W&B on Sundays, Burrell Mon through Fri and the Kronenberg on Saturdays. This is assuming I can learn to hone, otherwise they'll need to be sent out one by one for this. I'll hone the Burrell first, as I reckon that's the cheapest and if I stuff it up no great loss...
I plan to get a Norton 4/8 waterstone and do maybe 10 'passes' on the 8k side first. I've watched some videos on lapping the stones and plan to do this with wet and dry sandpaper on a glass table top; I reckon the glass table top would have to be the flattest surface I have...Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

A beautiful razor. It seems to be in excellent condition. After you get it honed and stropped, let us know how it shaves.
Congratulations!
