Straight razor with green, orange and red diodes
Just letting my imagination run tonight & I suddenly envisioned a futuristic straight edge razor, perhaps made in a secret skunk works at TI or Dovo, one with subtle diodes built into the scales, and nano sensors in the blade's edge... Fully honed to perfection: green diodes on; in need of 75 turns at the strop, orange diode blinking; and dangerously dull, flashing red diode on high alert.
Of course my futuristic blade would also plug into an iPod for backup power, & a deluxe version would have micro speakers, or perhaps a voice recorder.
Other ideas, or is this just too much?!

Thanked: 1371That sounds like the future straight razor production at Gillette.

You forgot the wi-fi so you can listen to your favorite radio station or stream some of your music while shaving.

No automatic pilot?
No beard sensing radar?
No automatic WTG, XTG, ATG angle setting?
No automatic styptic dispensing?
Then this is the "base model", right?Last edited by ace; 08-09-2011 at 12:15 AM.

I neglected to note that the scales would be embedded with an ARM Quad Core, and an almost invisible scanner would be measuring the accuracy of the shave itself, and that a short musical cascade would play when you did well with a XTG stroke.

The fantasy tech razor should have have a camera, helpful to see the back of the neck on the den monitor. Have it autopost your shave to your YouTube channel. It might as well self tweet, update your facebook and google+ status too.

Isn't that the opposite of what straight razors are about?

Regardless of all the bells & whistles on my razor, you can still get nicked. The designers were very careful to leave the "safety" out of razor as a backwards nod to Retro. Oh, & because the razor is packed with nano technology, only Lynn will be authorized to hone this baby. The razor instantly goes out of warranty when it's fondled by any other know-it-all honer.
