Default Opinions needed for latest purchase

I got this yesterday for $1 (not a typo, $1)

One blade is shot and has replaced scales, the good one has damaged Ivory scales, the case needs some TLC.
My idea would be to get another Heljestrand #31 and rescale both in Faux Ivory.

Definitely a fine $1 purchase. Congrats.

I can definitely see the potential of the razor on the right, but it will for sure need to be rescaled. The only problem with your plan is that you could be waiting a very long time to find a matching Helje 31, but you never know....

Very nice score, especially for a dollar

They pop up on Ebay quite often, one just ended today with Ivory for $300!!! If I'm doing a double rescale I could care less about the scale condition so I might get lucky and get a cheap one. I love Swedish razors and I've been looking for double set for a long time.

Ya know there are some of us that have kept every single half set of ivory scales they have taken off of razors to be restored... If you want to send me the good one I would be more than happy to check and see if I have one that matches it, if I do, you can have it.. If not then no great loss, and you proceed with your plan

Thanks for the very kind offer!! I'll will probably take you up on it!!
I know of a few stores with very junker razors (blades) that might have good scales, I'll check those out first and then get back to you.

My thoughts exactly. I would have snatched it up too.

You do realize you might have to pay more that double for another razor like that one, don't you? Seriously that is quite a buy for $1. If I ran into one of those sets they would be asking $400. Great deal.
