The Illinois razor
I have another specific question about a specific razor and I could use any insight anyone might have. I have a razor that honestly I have no recollection of where I got it. Someone may have given it to me. Its not that old and its in very fine condition and barely used if used at all. The blade is high carbon steel and the scales are plain probably bakelite or even a new plastic. The only marking on the razor is on the tang. "The Illinois Razor". I know about the Illinois Razor Strop company and there was an Illinois razor supply company at one time. Would this razor have been marketed by one of them at some point in time or possibly made by someone else? I like to know about the razors I own and I would love any insight on this. I can think of all kinds of possibilities. Some sort of commenorative razor to celebrate a big event. I would think the razor company would want their name on the darn thing. Of course the other possibility exists that its a cheap piece of giveaway crap someone came up with at some point and no one wants their name on it. The latter is probably more realisitc considering the shave from it isn't that good.

I know nothing about the razor but wouldn't mind seeing a pic or two.

I uploaded a couple of pictures and if I did it correctly you'll see its rather plain jane. I imagine the scales are a fake ivory bakelite or newere composite plastic. The only markings are on the tang and that says "The Illinois Razor". I think the number540 is stamped into the monkey tail. It shaves okay but I have much better razors.
