Thanked: 1936Unfortunately when you click on someone's tab "my location", it will not take you to where they live. The community map is really handy to find other straight razor users near you. You might play around with it a bit and I'm sure you will see some guys close by. The nearest ones for me are a couple hours away...I'm all alone. This is handy when it comes to searching antique shops!
You can't go wrong with a TI razor...you did very good. It should last you a lifetime. One thing about some of the few shops you can come across is that many sell "shave ready razors from the factory", when in fact the razors aren't shave ready. Sounds like you ended up with a good sharp razor that is indeed "shave ready".Southeastern Oklahoma/Northeastern Texas helper. Please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thanked: 5Shooter, thank you for ALL your help. I noticed that, I looked, and the one nearest me is more than 2 hrs away. Although I am in SF right now, and their are quit a few here. I asked the gal if it had been hones, and was in fact "shave ready", she said yep, just needs some stropping.
How long will a typical razor go before it needs to be rehoned shaving every other day probably? I want to keep my old one to learn to hone with, is that a bad idea?

Thanked: 1936This is like asking me how long will a tank of gas last, not knowing if I drive a big 4x4 Tahoe, lifted Crew Cab Silverado, Toyota Venza, or Honda VTX 1800F3. I have all of these and the mileage varies GREATLY.
If you pick up a Shapton GS 16K or 12K Naniwa Superstone, the edge will last you virtually forever as long as you don't ding it or roll the edge. I recommend one of these two stones in lieu of a barber stone as they are more consistent and if you ask me or pretty much anyone else how to use it the answer will be pretty much the same. Then when you think about getting into honing pick up the same line/mfg.
If I were to ballpark you a # of shaves with your TI, I would say 30-45 if you strop before and after every shave. If you also had a .5 micron pasted strop to add to the mix...you could probably get a year or more as long as the edge was never damaged. You mileage may vary...Southeastern Oklahoma/Northeastern Texas helper. Please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thanked: 13246This Mehaz razor is on my personal "Would like to see for myself" list of "Bad" razors
I have little doubt as to it questionable quality, but if you would like to send it to me, I would like to give it a shot on the stones/hones for myself...
No cost to you of course other than the postage up to Idaho...
PM me if yer interested
