    Default Help Me Decide

So this is my plan, I'm trying to put together a vintage 7 day set. Pictures to follow once its done

    I have currently collected:

    SUNDAY: 5/8 Dubl Duck Satinwedge
    MONDAY:
    TUESDAY: 5/8 Boker King Cutter
    WEDNESDAY:5/8 Wedge Wade & Butcher
    THURSDAY: 7/8 Henckels Friodur
    FRIDAY: 5/8 Full Hollow HESS
    SATURDAY:

Now as you can see I'm missing Monday and Saturday, and of course the order of shave rotation is subject to change. My question is this:

MONDAY: + 1 Filarmonica Duras Barbas or + 1 Wusthof?
SATURDAY: +3 Puma or +1 Red Imp?

    Others:

    + 3 Swedish Heljestrand or...
    +1 Thiers Issrad
    +1 Le Grelot
    +1 Japanese

I'm open to suggestions and models, my only requirement is a spike/square point.

    Thanks for your input

They do look like a nice shaver.

1 vote for red Imp then, if I get enough replies today I have a source for 2 razors and I may just buy

    Thanks for the reply

All good options you have there.
And some very fine razors in that rotation already.

You asked for advice, so here's what I would choose:
    EPBD and Puma.
But again, they are all grand shavers, you really can't go wrong with any of them

Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

Hey thanks the EPBD is hard to find. Or perhaps I'm looking in all the wrong places LOL

Puma... I don't know if it's just how mine was honed but it joins the company of those "special" razors, not just the really good ones.

Wusthof and Puma. The other ones shouldn't be on the list, IMHO. EPBD is a nice blade, but the scales are junk... and they are costing anywhere from $500-$750. It's just not a buy I'd ever recommend anyone making.

Yea their price when I see them is out of this world. I don't understand how they can cost that much LOL.

    Thanks for the reply.

    Thumbs up

First of all, I would ignore any advice I give you. LOL

If I had four German razors and one English razor, I would be inclined to consider a 6/8 French Thiers-Issard or Le Grelot and a 6/8 Swedish Heljestrand MK31 to provide more contrast. I love the Filarmonicas but hate the current prices.

If you do look at Red Imps, remember most Red Imp 132s are a 9/16 near-wedge and most Red Imp 133s are a 5/8-11/16 full hollow ground. I have both and they are very good but very different razors.

Ultimately, I suggest you give it more consideration and decide what would excite you and buy that. Are you seeking more uniformity or more variety in the set?

In any case, let us know what you decide. Happy Shaving!
