Wilson,
Welcome to SRP! I have razors that were used by generations in my family. 100yrs would not be a stretch for a razor that was kept in good condition one generation to another. A good 6/8 hollow could last that long easily...of course by the end of 100yrs of regular use it'd likely resemble more oof a 4/8 hollow; but well taken care of a decent razor will last you your life time and that of your children. They only need replaced when very badly abused or broken.
Peace,
Jim

Considering that the only way to shave prior to King Gillette's invention of the DE was with a straight razor or some modification of it's design, anyone that shaved did so with a straight razor. Many of the straights I have go back to the mid 1800's and earlier. Take care to wipe the razor down to remove skin oils and moisture, hone it properly and prevent damage to it and it will out live all of us on top of it's life prior to current use. My take on it is if it lasted over 150 yrs before I found it, it can go another 150 yrs with the same treatment it got in the first 150.“If you always do what you always did, you will always get what you always got.” (A. Einstein)

Thanked: 46Hi wilsOn and welcome to SRP!! I still have and use the razor I started with in 1969. It is a Boker 5\8 King Kutter that I got from the old barber who taught me to straight shave and maintain razors. It had been in use for years in his shop at the time I got it from him. It is now about a 4\8 but still shaves great. Best Regards and Happy Shaving, wildhog
