Thanked: 0Paul Ebel razor?
I just started messing with straights. I stopped into an "antiques" store today and picked up a Henkles that might only need a strop and nice big blade labeled "Paul Ebel Solingen" on one side. It has two fish and a cross (I think) on the other. The blade is in great shape; the scales are broken. I can't find much of any reference to the maker. I now have more razors than I need, and I need to decide which ones have to go.
This is my first post, and I haven't really even been a lurker. Are there a bunch of tiny, little-mentioned makers out there, or is this guy unusual?

Welcome, Paul. I couldn't find anything about Paul Ebel. There were hundreds of small razor makers in Germany, England, USA, and many other countries who have left no written records of their history. At least none that are readily accessible. I hope you will enjoy your razors and your visits to this forum. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask.

Thanked: 275You can _never_ have more razors than you need! NEVER ! <g>
There are dozens of different "names" that were made by ERN (Solingen). By and large, any "Solingen" blade is pretty good.
