Default Did I find the Red Violin of razors?!!

I won this razor on ebay a few weeks ago for $45. I was going to send it out to be restored and decided 'what the heck, I'll put a quick hone on it and try it once.' So I started to set the bevel. Not a great looking bevel, a bit wavy and a small frown on the heel of the blade that I worked out. I quickly did a pyramid with the 4000/8000 and went up to make a few passes. Not expecting anything other than a disappointing drag across the face, I lathered up some Cella on my brush, and with no preparation, just face lathered. I made a couple of passes, no big deal, no noise from the razor and no pulling at all, must be still dull, I washed my face. Then I noticed.....ALL the whiskers are gone where I made my passes...I rubbed my face...smooth..I mean really smooth...! Hmmm....So I lathered up again and began making a WTG pass all over. ALL the whiskers are gone and my face is nearly BBS! Now I'm intrigued. I lather up again and make a ATG pass....wash the face off. BBS! No nicks, no irritation, just a baby smooth face. Maybe one of my best shaves ever! Needless to say, this razor will NOT be leaving my sight! I will rehone it tomorrow, but carefully and will finish on my Nakayama Asagi and strop properly. I can't wait to see how it shaves with proper preparation! These photos are pre-honing...

+1 and don't worry about getting not getting a perfect honing on it first time, wedges are a pain, but as i discovered a few days ago, very worth it. if you previously didn't, you might want to tape it. helps with a wedge.
