Congratulations. It should clean up very nicely.

My Wade and Butcher is one of the "smoothest" shavers in my collection. Gliding silently across my face, it gently removes everything in its path. I hope you love yours as much as I love mine.

    Happy Shaving!

Congrats. What are the existing scales made of? Horn? I scored a razor with horn scales that looked to be in similar condition. They ultimately sanded up pretty clean. Depending on how deep the "chip" is in yours, you might be able to do the same without having to replace the scales???? Good luck and have fun.

Nice looking razor. My W&B is amazing. Super sharp and smooth shave but it seems really forgiving. Either that or it's biding its time to bite me when I'm not looking.

I believe that they may be horn, however, I think they are toast given the wire holding them together at the wedge end.
It's in the mail ATM and I'll know more when it arrives - and I take more pictures.
I'm looking forward to working with something other than acrylic, maybe horn or bone.
Hang on and enjoy the ride...

Don't be too quick to write off those scales. They look original and may well be savable if you don't mind the aesthetics.
