    Default First Packwood stub tail

Today was a great day on the bay! I have been wanting one of these (Packwood Silver Steel) since I first saw one on here, and since they are always out of my price range it has taken some time & patience! I found this one on ebay with 2 days left and zero bids so I contacted the seller and asked if he would consider a buy now option. He said yes ,
so its on the way. Can anyone tell from the pics in the link if the scales are/appear to be original? Any other info would be appreciated as well. I will definently post some pics once it arrives and I give it a once over with some flitz polish. I also snagged a Coticule, some barber hones, and what I'm hoping is a thuri slurry stone the same way!

I could be wrong of course, but the scales look like they fit the style of the blade to me, so if they're not original they're very damn close.

This is a free evaluation, so take it for what it cost you.

Congratulations on a nice eBay score! Your Packwood looks to have the original horn scales (weatherbeaten and in need of neatsfoot oil) The pins are original brass with corrosion, but you can see the flower pattern on the collar. One collar may have lost the collar, from the photos. My guess is that it was made in the 1840's. Maybe even the late 1830's. Should make a great shaver, with proper honing.
