Thanked: 6Taylors Eye Witness 1000
So I impulsively picked up a razor today on ebay for 25 bucks. It is an antique taylor eye witness 1000 razor, and from the pictures the blade looks like it is in pretty good shape. I'm not so sure on the scales but I like a good project and I enjoy working with wood as well as a lot of other materials, it shouldnt be too difficult to create some new scales for it if need be. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these razors, or if I just bought a 25 dollar butter knife! From the little I have seen they seem to be decent razors, just not a lot of information out there! I guess for 25 bucks it could be a good razor to do a restoration project on and learn to hone instead of the new dovo I use every day!
Thanks!

I have one, mine takes a very good edge, easy to hone doesn't hold an edge as long as some others but refreshes easy enough.
Mines a full hollow and has a very narrow bevel, I like the 3rd pin they have also, just adds a bit of class!
Oh and its Sheffield so it bound to be good

Thanked: 1587Yes, they are good little razors and as long as the blade is in good shape are nice shavers. I enjoy using mine. Here's one I blued:

Thanked: 0I picked one up at the local trash&treasure market on the weekend, it was about the best I could find there, Sheffield-made (I've decided to stick with buying Sheffield made razors - for now at least ) and cheap (compared with eBay prices) Just posted pics of it and the barber's strop I got there on the Beginners Forum section - http://straightrazorpalace.com/begin...rop-razor.html
