    I reckon it is because most areas have regulations in place that basically prohibits use of proper straights nowadays.
    As I understand it, it's because of the risk of contamination and the spreading of various diseases. Hepatitis and what not..

    Mississippi is one of those states that requires barbers to use disposable blades, according to my instructor; I think the actual statute is a little vague. So, for the meantime that is what I'll use. Not overly happy about that, but it is what it is.
