I'm sure the answer is obvious but I'm not guessing it.

    ideas please?
Light oil does not rinse off 100% so I never feel
obligated to oil after each shave.

You can use a Q-tip (cotton bud).
Cut it in half since you only need one
    end.

A couple of extra drop of oil in the bottom
of a pill bottle might last a month with the
    same Q-tip.

I use a single or half a sheet of bathroom tissue.
    to wipe it if needed.

No need to make it over complicated - I just use a couple squares of toilet paper folded over a few times. It's disposable, saves the fingers and ensures that the oil (safely) reaches the very edge of the blade. One disadvantage to using your fingers, other than the mess, is that you can't be certain that you're coating the edge evenly; doing so prevents corrosion and will affect edge longevity in the long run.

Ditto to Ryan. 1 square of TP folded twice and a few Gtts of Camilia oil then a gentle wipe to both sides at the same time. Easy with no muss or fuss. I always do a hard pressed felt 10 pass strop prior to the oil application to ensure all soap residue is removed. no rust in any of my rotation. BTW I'm in Houston. The capital of mold, rust and decay with the high humidity. I have to be extra careful.

besides not wanting to leave any more blood in the sink than from shaving I thought using myfingers would not be as efficient as some other applicator.didn't know if it TP or cuetips was going to leave unwanted fibers on the blade or not.
    thanks

lol - Isn't that the way it goes, have a perfect blood-free shave and then you cut your fingers during cleanup. And yes, many of us have done just that

Don't worry about any fibers left on the blade, they won't harm it at all. The next time you use the razor any fibres (if there are any) will be wiped off with the coat of oil and the blade will be stropped, so there will be nothing but a clean blade

just get a mouth full of mineral oil and squirt it onto the blade while turning it in your hand...... works like a charm but tends to be a bit messy.......

I put a drop of oil on the blade then smear it around with my fingers gripping on both sides. Its hard to describe how I do it, but get it all over and don't cut yourself.
