    A. If cosmetics werent important to me, I would use my Klauberg Gem and never have started buying more
    B. I have an 80$ Dovo as well, my expensive one is stainless and 6/8, and my 80$ one is 4/8 and carbon, and I feel that I get a marginally better shave with the 200$ one. The operative word is marginal, however, and may be either placebo or on account of the larger blade. I short, I agree with you.

I am curious about the american brands. Is there some consensus that waterville or cattaragus are better than torreys, or is this purely personal opinion?

Everything here is 95% opinion. Some of it good, some not so good. The only real facts : Stay away from junk razors as listed in the wiki!

I found a nice Torrey blade at a flea market...it seems to be magnetic...which none of my other blades seem to be. Is that normal for a Torrey?

I have a lot of razors that are magnetic. I have a number of very strong magnets around my workbench, which attract a lot of the dust and make cleanup much easier. Sometimes, if one of my razors comes into contact with one of my stronger magnets, it becomes magnetic. In order for this to happen, i have noticed, really strong magnets need to be involved (i have a 4 cubic inch neodymium magnet with something like a 100lb pull if it touches metal all along one planar surface), but it is very easy to magnetize a razor, and many are magnetic before I get them.
