    Default Good find?

A retired barber I know came up with two matching J.A. Henckels Twin Works friodur razors today. He offered them to me at a reasonable price so I grabbed them up. Both are in great condition and in the original boxes which are near mint as well. Just curious if anyone else has had experience with these razors and can tell me how their experiences with them have been. I can post pics a little later when I get home.

What's your address? I'll get right on that lol. I'd go so far as to say I could probably give them a good stroping and shave up. I see no reason why they wouldn't take an edge. I plan to send them both out asap and have them honed just to be sure I've got the best edge I can get.
I need to look into learning how to properly hone though. I've seriously spent more money having my new acquisitions honed than I did on the razors themselves.

Any old Friodur is capable of awesomeness, so I'd say you did really good if they are in decent shape!

Have used these for years. The steel is VERY hard and require a good bit extra time on the finish hone, but when diled in you want find a better shaver and they hold their edge for a long time. Very Best, wildhog

Well here is a pic of one and the other is just as good. It was taken from my phone so not the greatest pic but you can get an idea.

Looks like you got yourself a couple of mighty fine razors, as mentioned above, you more or less can't go wrong with a vintage Friodur, marvellous shavers IMHO.

Bottomfeeder, You have obtained probally the two best shavers you will ever own!! Take care of them and your great grandchildren will be able to use them. If you are uncertain in the LEAST bit send them to a pro for honing. JA Henckels require a special touch. Very Best Regards and Happy Shaving, wildhog

Thank you everyone for the feedback. I have to say I'm quite happy with them especially only spending a jackson apiece on them I think it was a great deal.
I do have one question the pivot pins are a little loose so you have to be very careful not to catch a scale when closing them. I have little experience in restoration and maintenance for that matter. Can anyone recommend how to tighten them up without damaging them?
