Complete side note, I saw an article of Life Hacker that said that you could use denim, as in an old pair of jeans, as a half decent strop. I kind of laughed at the idea, but seeing that I am on here, has anyone else heard this, or tried it? I could imagine it might help a bit, but not nearly as much as a proper one.
    Enigma1122,
you should post this topic in the Strop section of the forum:- Strops
This will keep all information gained by user input catagorised for future reference by many.
An interesting idea with some merit. Like using a cotton canvas material. Donīt know if it will have enough body to hang and strop through.

I just wanted to add my video review of this razor with a stern caution of caveat emptor.

Sorry to say i did buy one of these from the afore metiononed site above. shaved badly out of the box assumed it was my lack of experience shaving with a stright razor. when I realized it was going to cost me about 20 to take advantage of the "free life time sharpening" I bought a king 1000/6000 wet stone and tried my best to put an edge on to now it will cut paper smartly but wont shave worth a darn. I just bought a old razor on ebay for around 15.00 I put it on the 1000/6000 stone and it shaved 10x better than the new razor my ability still need honing no pun intended but it did shave much better. Oh well live and learn. so now im looking to re scale the old razor as the scales are in rough shape. perhaps Ill take the nice looking buffalo scales and pin them onto the old razor.

after looking at the video posted i have a somewhat different razor mine has really nice buffalo scales but its still a GB Buckingham and bottom line it didn't come shave ready I can't get it sharp enough to shave to cut paper yes shave no.

Learning to Shave - moderate learning curve
Learning to Hone - moderately high learning curve
Learning to Restore - high learning curve

All of the above at once - Very steep learning curve

Welcome to the deep end. We really like photos around here. Drop by the introductions thread and say hi.

Think this through for just half a minute,,, That site claims to Hone and Restore razors,, yet somehow the razor came to you and doesn't shave, and you have found this forum where many actual experts are telling you the same thing..

Face it, You done got hustled send it back and ask for a refund, or use it to open letters
